Of course the scriptures say:  (1Jn 2:27) But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Many look to this one scripture today and claim that they don’t listen to men, they only listen to God.  They very well may spend hours listening to a number of men, of which they will say, “I eat the meat and spit out the bones”.  I always am puzzled and greatly amazed at a people who believe they are being taught by the Holy Spirit, they believe that no man need teach them, and yet they will admit to listening to men preach who preach error, all the while these people claim that they handle error by spiting out the bones.

So let me get this straight, you listen to error from men you respect as brothers, you even can find no one who agrees with you on everything, and in most cases you run into people regularly who claim to personally hear from God, with whom you agree very little, and yet you don’t see any problem with your faith in applying 1John 2:27 to your life?

As for me,  I don’t know anyone who doesn’t believe some error of which I am absolutely certain, given the patience, time and access, I could certainly, without question, prove their teachings to be false right to their face.  And at the same time there are none who would have the patience, give the time or access, because they all believe that God will personally lead them into ALL TRUTH – even though he clearly is not!  They even proudly claim that God personally speaks to them and they don’t need to listen to anyone but him.

What I am here to do today, as one who also claims to have learned a thing or two from the Lord, is bring you to the threshold of reality.  The truth is many people understand so very little and speaking to them is so embarrassing to me, so much so that I just want to shake my head at the complete carelessness and ignorance they show of the scriptures or the power of God.  That’s what Jesus said the the Scribes and Pharisees who had spend most of their lives memorizing scriptures, he said in Matt. 22:29 “You do err, not knowing the scriptures or the power of God”.  They believed that they were the children of Abraham and they could not err because they had promises given to them thru Abraham.

Promises like this one:

(Deu 32:10-13) He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.  As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:  So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.  He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;

The Scribes and Pharisees had confidence that they were the children of God and they wouldn’t be lost or lacking truth, nor be allowed to serve idols, they believed the promises of scripture and mistakenly believed that these promises applied to them.  Just like those who carelessly read scriptures and believe that God will personally lead them into all truth, so did the natural Jews.  But what did Jesus say?

(Mat 23:37-38)  O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

I always am amazed at the total carelessness of those who claim that the secular nation of Israel is the apple of God’s eye.  Can’t they read the scriptures, what is wrong with them?  Don’t they know that God shows us who the apple of his eye is by showing favor upon them?  Just like the scriptures say, God keeps those who are truly the apple of his eye away from idols.  Let me ask you, does God keep the secular nation of Israel away from idols?

Last time I checked they still are serving other gods and have not received their Messiah. So how can it be so that they are the apple of God’s eye, since God has clearly NOT shown his favor on the nation to lead them to repentance and keep them away from idols?  This is what I mean by carelessly reading the scriptures, you cannot call the secular nation of Israel the apple of God’s eye, because according the scriptures, if that were so, then God would keep them from idols. That is the problem with people who cherry pick the scriptures to serve their own purposes, they go to the scriptures that tell them what they want to hear, while completely ignoring the scriptures that tell them what they need to hear.  I am telling you today what you need to hear, because the Lord is coming back with anger, fire and fuller’s soap, and he won’t receive you when you carelessly handle the scriptures.  This is what the scriptures say:

(Isa 66:2) For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

When people cherry pick the scriptures and name and claim promises to themselves, carelessly so, they are certainly not being contrite in spirit, neither are they trembling at the word of God.

I would ask the question, are you more loved by God than Jeremiah the prophet?  He wrote this in Lamentations:

(Lam 2:1) How hath the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger, and cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel, and remembered not his footstool in the day of his anger!

(Lam 2:6) And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and hath despised in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest.

And Jeremiah spoke these words of himself:

(Lam 3:1-9) I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.  He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light. Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.  My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.  He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.  He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.  He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.   Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.  He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.

How about the church of Laodicea, did God promise to lead them into ALL truth?  No!  In Rev. 3, he promised to spew them out of his mouth, because they thought they were rich in truth and did not know that they were blind and naked.

Jesus came and said to the Jewish people and said “For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.”  And the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also? And Jesus said unto them,  “If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.”

Let’s go back to 1John 2:27 and not be careless with it and let’s see what it really says:  1John 2:18-29 – let’s get the whole picture, not just cherry pick.

(1Jn 2:18) Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

At the time John wrote this, he said it was then the last time and warned of the antichrist church system that would come.

(1Jn 2:19) They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

Those who left the church of JOHN THE APOSTLE, were demonstrating that they were not a part of them.  This scripture cannot be applied to any other church but the New Testament Church, this does not apply to the antichrist church system.

(1Jn 2:20) But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

But THE PEOPLE OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH, not your church, had an unction from the Holy One, and they knew all things, not your church.

(1Jn 2:21) I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

Here John emphasizes exactly what I am saying, he is writing this to those who are ALREADY GROUNDED IN THE TRUTH.

(1Jn 2:22-24) Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have been taught here in the New Testament church, from the beginning, by the Apostles of the Lord Jesus.  And IF that which you have heard remains in you, ye also shall continue.

Do you see how people cherry pick the scriptures, they don’t read verse 24, but they skip to verse 27, because they want to believe that God promises to personally teach them all truth apart from any man.

This is error and a gross mishandling of the scriptures!   I believe that this false teaching strokes the ego of man to believe that they don’t need to be taught anything, they don’t need to receive anything from others, when the scriptures teach just the opposite.    As the scriptures say:  “How shall they call upon whom they have not heard and how shall they hear without a preacher and how shall they preach except they be sent?”

(1Jn 2:25) And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

Again, promised to the New Testament church, not your church.

(1Jn 2:26) These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

The whole reason John wrote these things is because of those who went out from them, making manifest that they were not of the church of John the Apostle, because of those who seduce you.  John NEVER intended to say that God has promised every single person who ever claimed salvation, that he would personally teach them.

(1Jn 2:27) But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

As the scriptures say, God has chosen the foolishness of preaching to save those who are lost.  When you read 1John 2:27, you should ask yourself the question, how did they receive that anointing in the NT church?  The Preaching of the Gospel by the Apostles, that’s how!

(1Jn 2:28-29) And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.  If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

And hope maketh not ashamed because the true love of God is spread abroad in our hearts.

Finally Brother and Sisters, I don’t make the claim that God must have a man to teach you, God is God and he can do anything.  The Lord can be a father to the fatherless, but it is what it is, and if you teach error, than you do not walk in that anointing which is truth and NO lie and you do need to be taught by him who is sent.   Consider what I am saying and thanks for listening!
