Today I would like to endeavor to call every person who claims to be a “Christian”, every person who claims to be “For Christ” and not “Against Christ” – I would like to call you to repentance. So you might say “Repentance over what Bro”, well I am going to explain, God help me!
In the book of Amos, there are many interesting quotes – you know that the book of Amos was not written chapter by chapter – chapter numbers were later on added for convenience, therefore it is likely that Amos is a book, prophecy and idea as a whole, not divided by chapters. Consider the following quotes:
(Amo 1:9) Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:
As you know, Esau was the father of the Edomites – the very term “Jacobs Trouble” was coined at a time that Esau was in the hunt for his brother’s life because of the birthright that was taken from Esau and given to Jacob.
(Amo 1:11) Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
Now you are getting a little closer to the subject of repentance that I am calling you to. Remember – our fight is not against flesh and blood, but we are to put on the armor of God – the Word of God is a sharp two edged sword – however, the letter of the Word kills, but the Spirit gives life. (2Cor. 3:6) There are brothers who use the sword to kill, rather than to give life.
(Amo 2:6) Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;
There are more quotes, but for simplicity’s sake, can you begin to see a theme developing here? And now the quote taken from Amos 3:3 – “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?”
Every time I have heard this scripture quoted or referred to by a professing brother, it typically means that he is saying he cannot fellowship or walk with you because he disagrees with your interpretation of scripture, he disagrees with your doctrine. I also find it very interesting, concerning and contrary to the teachings of scripture when people from various denominations or different doctrinal perspectives, say about the others “well they are not going to hell, they fall within the “pale of orthodoxy”, so we may not agree on everything – but we can just agree to disagree”. And so you have groups of people being separated by doctrine and affiliation, only to quietly hold to the idea that they all will be in heaven together someday.
Today we only have two different groups of people who are members of one body, I call them, women or brides. One woman is claiming to be married to Jesus Christ while at the same time is living as a harlot, and the other also claims to be married to Christ. These people are a scattered people, many of who are dwelling in dry places, dwelling in the wilderness, they have come out of the harlot, the institutional Church system who’s roots lead to Rome,
This scripture describes the harlot:
(Isa 47:5-10) Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms. I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke. And thou saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it. Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children: But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments. For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.
Here is a few scriptures that refer to the second woman in the wilderness:
(Isa 62:4-5) Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married. For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.
(Isa 49:21) Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?
(Isa 54:1) Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.
Now I would like to get to the meat of what I am saying here, what I am asking all my true brothers to repent of. I am asking all of my true brothers to stop all of the false judgment and sectarianism. I am asking you who fear the Lord to separate yourselves from the harlot woman, the harlot bride, those who truly fear the Lord and do not want to be found wanting when the Lord appears as a thief in the night, I am asking you to repent for saying, “well we can agree to disagree, I think you might be my brother, but I would rather fellowship with people who agree with me on everything”. What you have done, is you have broken the brotherly covenant, you have sold your brother for a pair of shoes, you have allowed your anger to be perpetual and decided to allow your anger for those such as myself who have disagreed, rebuked or misunderstood you in the past, you have decided that it would be perfectly fine if you never repented of that anger.
When Amos here says, “how can two walk together except they be agreed”, he is not promoting sectarianism, he is not promoting clicks and separation among true brothers. What you have engaged in is pure rebellion against the Lord, not walking in love and lacking understanding. This second woman that is scattered whom the scriptures refer to, applies to the New Testament Christians that had separated from the scribes and pharisees at the time of Christ, their harlot church system, it also applies to us today who have also separated from the harlot church system of our time. I can tell you for sure that God will not forsake even one of his true sheep, just as always, the Lord will leave the 99 and search out the one, he will not lose even one of his who belongs to him. Any man who claims love for Christ and his people yet, unjustly separates himself, refuses to receive even one brother that belongs to the Lord, they have not just rejected that brother, but they have rejected Jesus Christ himself. This woman of whom I speak remains scattered, weak, feckless and without effect and power in a world in desperate need to see the true testimony of Jesus Christ, “they shall know you are my disciples by you love one for another”.
Just as the scriptures say:
(2Co 6:17-18) Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Unfortunately many of you continue to attempt to save the harlot, this is unfortunate, it will not work, it is a failure to obey the scriptures and the cause of Christ is very damaged by your rebellion! If I or a brother have sinned, where is the rebuke, where is the call to repentance, who has correctly spelled out a path for forgiveness and redemption? Who out there is making his way straight and providing a clear trumpet sound so that we all may get ready for the battle, rather isn’t every man looking to his own way, his own agenda, his own house over which he can rule?
Today I just want to tell you one thing, if you belong to Christ, then you are my brother and the day will come in which we will see eye to eye, but in the mean time, we can CERTAINLY walk together and agree with each other in Christ alone and his authority! We don’t need to continue to be at odds, continue to compete with each other, hope for the other’s downfall, refuse to love and understand each other while Christ and his testimony is destroyed in the eyes of the heathen and the world. So today brothers and sisters, I am giving you a sure word, repent, come out from the harlot, love the Lord your God with all your heart and your brother as yourself, and we will no longer be weak and feckless, but the Lord will receive us! Can you say Amen?
